Kevin text-ed this to me along with the following picture.  Fork plus 8.29, The Other Side of Glendora Ridge Road. Kevin and I have set a date, September 1, 2012, we are riding to Mt Baldy.

WPH Midnight Drag Racing

Took the Metro Link to Downtown Los Angeles for some late night racing with Meme.  Well actually we only watched but there were hundreds of cyclist.

It was so hard to capture the action.  Late night, poor light, everything was a blur.

Hundreds of spectators and racers.  The tunnel was packed.

1000 feet, to be in the top 16 you needed to be at the finish line in about 24 seconds or less.

Golden Saddle Cyclery, Kyle?

Alvin with Mobbin Mondays was representing.

Joseph from Mobbin Mondays was there too.  Here he is warming up.

Racers are lining up to register.  Angel, in the middle, from Coco's Variety, is at every race.  I see him everywhere.

Diamond Bar to the Beach, FIXED

Michael and I killed it on fixed gear bikes today.  We headed out at 6:30 am from Diamond Bar and made it to Newport in record time.

The ride to Newport was fast and @ 46 x 15, we were able to keep our average speed above 20 mph.  They were doing some work on Kraemer so we did take a few detours.  Once on SART, it was smooth sailing.  We kept the pace exciting and made it to Newport in no time.

Heading back we played leap frog with other cyclist to conserve energy for the long trip back.  Basically we let them pull for us until we had a few minutes to recover before picking up the pace and leap frogging to the next person.

Once off SART it was just us.  My legs were a bit warm but we managed to keep an average speed between 19 and 20 mph.

Overall it was a great ride, felt good and energized after leaving Michael's house.

Jason's Skid

I spent the day perfecting my skid, or rather learning how to skid.  It is not easy and I still have much to learn.  Yesterday I posted a tutorial on how to skid.  I found it very helpful and since I've been riding fixed, I figure its time to learn how to properly skid.

I can skid fairly well by throwing my weight forward but, other than looking cool, it does very little in the way of actually stopping me.  And not to mention, throwing your weight forward while bombing down Mt. Baldy is not a very comfortable feeling.

I have seen other guys lock their legs up instantly and I've often wondered how they do this.  The trick seems to be lifting up with your dominate leg, while simultaneously pushing down on the other AND (This is the key) having your knees/inner-thighs pressed into the middle of the top tube.  Night and day!  Skidding becomes much easier.

I am certainly not ready to go brake-less, but yesterdays tutorial was VERY helpful.

Kevin Rides to Fork Plus 5.73

Getting closer and closer with every ride.  Soon enough Kevin will be dropping into Baldy Village.  Last ride it was 4 point something, today its Fork Plus 5.73.  That is only 2.52 measly miles until the next downhill and an easy ride into the village.

Kevin keep it up and keep going, only 2.52 miles (Or Mile Marker 8.29). The stretch between 4.25 and 8.29 is the hardest but with only 2.52 miles left you certainly can do it!

GMR to Mt Baldy with Randy

Woke up early and rode to Mt Baldy with Randy.  It was a quick ride and I was home with enough time to clean up before taking the family to the La Verne Parade.

This one is for Michael from CLR Effect.

GRR and GMR was closed to motor traffic.  The road closure made for a great ride.

Now off to see some fireworks then its back to the the daily grind.  Working tomorrow!

General Putnam's Ride
General Putnam, hearty and stout,
Certainly tired the enemy out,
Boulders and ditches he took with glee,
And from all harm escaped scot-free,
'Twas easily done for Old Glory's sake,

LA Storica 2012

La Storica 2012 - Materiale preparatorio per il film "L'Ultimo Chilometro" - www.thelastkilometer.com from Stuffilm on Vimeo.
La Storica - 22 Aprile 2012
Footage clip from "The last kilometer", a forthcoming documentary movie - thelastkilometer.com
Out Dec 2012

The last kilometer
1- One kilometer to the finish line. The bunch is all together, every cyclist is tense like a knot of nerves, victory and dreams are still available for each rider. This is bicycle, this is its sport, cycling, a perfect metaphor of life.
2- From the 80's to now cycling has greatly changed. As journalist Gianni Musa says "If you think that every rider now has a transmitter in the ear and is virtually
guided by his car, I would say that this is the end of the adventure". So, is it The Last Kilometer for Cycling?

Synopsis

The Last Kilometer is a movie that faces cycling at 360 degrees through 5 characters, 5 stories:

Ignazio Moser - Francesco Moser's son. Young rider full of strength and dreams, above all the
Paris-Roubaix, the legendary road race in northern France. His father, a constant reference and point of comparison for him, won Paris-Roubaix three years consecutively.
Cadel Evans - international star, first Australian rider to win the Tour de France, last year.
In 2012, everybody's waiting for him. From his winter camp in Spain to the "Grande Boucle" in July, the movie will follow his entire season. Will he be able to repeat in 2012?
Davide Rebellin - 40 years old, last year he returned to victory against all odds.
But after the scandal of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, when he was forced to return his silver medal, for many his name only represents the dark side of cycling, doping.
Gianni Mura - the "suiveur", a well-known italian journalist who every year, since the 60's, writes his Tour de France chronicles. From there, he will provide us the keys of interpretation of this sport.
The Fans - fans and fan clubs willing to follow their idol everywhere, ready to shout for his victories and to soothe his defeat. In particular, we will follow the mythical "El Diablo", a german fan wearing his red devil costume and painting trident symbols on the road some miles before he appears.

The Last Kilometer is the story of a road racing season, but it inevitably turns into a portrait of our passions, motivations, experiences, feelings.
A film with an international slant, as now cycling has become an international sport.
A movie for all those who have been on a bicycle once in their life.

L'Ultimo Chilometro
1- Un chilometro all'arrivo.
