Filling up before Monrose

Saturday Montrose 8 am is getting bigger and bigger. So many riders. Heading down to South Pasadena I met up with a fairly large group along the way. First it was Demi, Frank, Gabriel, and Danny at Live Oak, then Steve (or John, I cannot remember his name) somewhere on Baseline. Off Route 66 in Glendora we met Scott, Bill and Monte. Then around Duarte we met Big Block and Alvin. Yeah, I joined a bunch of trouble makers and we continued our way to the start of Montrose.

GMR to Mt Baldy

We had good company, but I had nothing to give. I was dog tired today.

When you GMR Hustle, you eat while on the bike. No stops, no breaks.

Monday Crazy Legs

The warmer temperatures allowed us to ditch the vests, arm warmers and full finger gloves. We had a decent group. I was hoping to see Balmore to congratulate him on his epic 167 miler he did over the weekend. Today we had the usual suspects on this ride John W, the two Mikes, Barry, Connie, Beth, Monte, his wife Liz and Warren.

The Vegan Cyclist was in my neck of the woods a couple weeks ago. I was hoping to ride with him but never happened. Maybe next time.

GMR to Mt. Baldy 3x

I am not sure how this happened but today was the third consecutive day riding from my house to Glendora Mountain Road to Mount Baldy.  The first time it was with Mike Y and Frank I. Then Royce and Frank and today it was Frank, Gio and William D.

I enjoy GMR to Baldy rides but three times back to back, that's a little crazy.  Today was wet, cold and visibility sucked.  It's made for an interesting fun day.

GMR Hustle 2021 (First of the Year)

Frank I, Michael Y and I did the GMR Hustle.  It was a great ride, the day started overcast and ended in the sun on at Mt. Baldy.

Beach Century

Yesterday Demi, Otto, Warren, Mike and I met up at Euro Cafe and headed down to the beach.  The weather was perfect for a beach century, cool in the morning and sunny by the time we were heading home.  This was the first time in YEARS riding with Mike M so it was a real treat.  He said he isn't riding much but I heard he is doing a lot of secret training these days.  Mike rode strong and 100 miles ain't easy. I think he is secret training.

I joked around saying I am going steady with Warren.  Warren is a diesel engine and kept such a great pace to and from the beach.  He is such a steady even paced rider, it makes these long rides seem easy.  No surges, just an even fast steady pace.

We saw a number of riders out today, Alvin and his crew, Chad, and Mike Y.

On the way back, Demi's rear cassette was making weird noises so we stopped at Local Bike Stand.

GMR to Mt. Baldy

Mike Y and I headed up to Glendora Mountain Road this morning.  It was a quiet car free ride for the most part.  While heading up GMR, two fire engines and an ambulance passed us with their lights and horns blaring.   We continued up and by the time we made it to the maintenance shed, they were making there way down.

At Cow Saddle we ran into a hiker who asked if we know Sylvia P.  Yes, we know Sylvia P.

We punched through the clouds right before Newmans and this made for a spectacular sight.  Overall the ride was a relaxed talking pace.  On the way down we headed to Rancho Cucamonga before heading back to Pomona.

Clouds on GMR

I am very lucky to be able to ride as much as I do.  One of my favorite places to be is up in the mountains.  It's always an extra special day when I ride past the cloud cover and see this.  Photos do this view absolutely no justice.

Montrose 8 am

Dang the Montrose 8 am group is growing and growing.  It's nice seeing so many familiar and NEW faces on this ride.  Mike F promised to bring back the skin color kits for this ride and Wilson made a guest appearance. Everyone brought their hustle today. Just getting to So. Pasadena we had to tell "Big Block" to slow down.
