Ride a bike, share your experience and love. When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

Amgen ToC Stage 7, the first KOM ...

The scene at the first KOM was crazy. Cheering fans were everywhere. It truly reminded me of Summit finishes I've seen at the Giro or "Tour" where maniacal fans crowded every inch of the road. The energy up there only intensified as the racers drew near and in an instant our Heroes sped past ...

Amgen Tour of California, Stage 4

Go Chris Horner! I was talking to a friend who was at TofC Stage 4. He was telling me how, prior to the race, Garmin - Cervelo was talking smack about the "Old" guys on team Radio Shack. This must have pissed off Team Radio Shack, as they commanded the head of the field and well, took it on home!

Garmin - Cervelo, the "Old" guys on Team Radio didn't to too bad eh!

Also, Great Job Rory!

Above: I snapped this from the video feed on the Shack Tracker. I want to be one of these crazy fools running next to the riders!

Great Job Chris Horner and Team Radio Shack. Closing in on years old and still smoking fast!

CANIDAE Pet Foods Supports Pet Cancer Research with Beach Cruiser Raffle at Amgen Tour of California

I work for CANIDAE Pet Foods and for the past three years we have been at all the Amgen Lifestyle Festivals Promoting our Super Premium Pet Foods and Responsible Pet Ownership. Every year we raffle off a Felt Bicycle with 100% of the proceeds going to Cancer Research in Pets. Please come by our booth with your pet, buy a raffle ticket and get some free samples.

CANIDAE will be at all stages of the 2011 Amgen Tour of California, continuing to promote an active healthy lifestyle that includes pets, and conducting a raffle to raise funds for the fight against cancer in pets.

Cycling fans can visit CANIDAE and purchase raffle tickets at all of the Amgen Lifestyle Festivals, located near the finish line at each stage of the race. The first stage of the Amgen Tour of California begins Sunday May 15th in South Lake Tahoe with subsequent stages winding all throughout California until the final stage begins seven days later on May 22nd in Santa Clarita.

All proceeds from the company's multi-day charity raffle will benefit the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation to fund cancer research in pets. The grand prize winner of the raffle will receive a a pair of Felt Beach Cruisers donated by CANIDAE.

Raffle tickets will be priced at two dollars for one, and five dollars for three. One grand prize winner will be drawn who will receive both bicycles. If present, the winner may pick up both bikes at the end of the event, otherwise CANIDAE will arrange for the shipping of the bikes to the winner's nearest Felt Bicycle retailer. CANIDAE and Felt Bicycles reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

Founded out of a love for pets and family, CANIDAE Pet Foods promotes an active lifestyle and Responsible Pet Ownership, which includes healthy lifestyles for all of us and our pets. Part of CANIDAE's Responsible Pet Ownership message includes proper medical care and support for pets with health issues such as cancer. Nothing is more central to the core values of CANIDAE than the health, happiness and well being of pets.

L'Etape du California, May 7, 2011

This Saturday 1500 of my closest friends will ride L'Etape Du CA. This is Stage 7 of this year Amgen's ToC. I will be there taking many pictures. I hope to see you there.

"L'Étape du California provides serious recreational cyclists the opportunity to ride a complete stage of the Amgen Tour of California - and the most challenging stage of the 2011 race at that. Riders will cover the same route as the professionals on Stage 7 of the Amgen Tour of California, from the City of Claremont to the Mt Bhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifaldy Ski Area. The route is breathtaking in its beauty and difficulty, covering some of the most famous and iconic sections of road in the San Gabriel Mountains: Glendora Mountain Road, Glendora Ridge Road, and the sharp "beyond category" switchbacks up to the Mt Baldy Ski Area. By the time riders return to their cars or homes in Claremont, they will have climbed close to 10,000 vertical feet and ridden close to 100 miles. While extremely challenging and requiring a high level of fitness and mental toughness, there will be ample support to help athletes see if they have what it takes to ride the route of the Amgen Tour of California."
