Thanksgiving Day

 I don't get out much these days but today I met up with Mike Y.  For years we'd do Turnbull Canyon on Thanksgiving but since he moved away we don't get to ride much in general.  He was in town so we decided on a chill ride around town.  It was nice catching up.

Thanksgiving Ride - Turnbull Canyon

Today Mike and I rode from Diamond Bar to Turnbull Canyon.  This is becoming a Bicycle Friends Tradition between Mike and I.

Turnbull Canyon with Michael Y.

It's been a while since Michael and I have ridden together.  Michael is one of my favorite guys to ride with, not because our skill sets are equal (He'll smoke me up, down and all around the tarmac any day) but rather our station in life is similar.  He's married with kids, employed, and always pressed for time, just like me!!!

Because of that he makes a great ride buddy.  Michael is goal oriented and one who will brave the elements with me in the early morning.  Let's get out, ride and go home!  All business, mixed with great conversations about life the universe and anything.

Thursday morning we decided to get out and ride before the Thanksgiving festivities got underway.  We decided on Diamond Bar to Whittier to Turnbull Canyon and back.  I left the Garmin at home, but this ride is about 40 miles.  We didn't push the pace and it was a nice ride through a few different cities.

Thanksgiving and Post Thanksgiving Ride Report

My Thanksgiving ride was nice and easy.  I drove, yes drove, to Glendora Mountain Road and Sierra Madre. Parked and rode up to the maintenance shed.  I left early and didn't see any riders until I made it to the top of Monroe Truck Trail. 

Heading down, and below the first saddle, was when I saw more and more riders heading up.  It was nice, John P was heading up so I turned around and spoke with him for a while.

At the bottom of GMR, I loaded up my car and headed home for an early Thanksgiving feast with the family.

Saturday, I decided to tackle GMR to the maintenance shed again.  This time I flatted at MM 10.49.  Actually my rear tire blew out, since this was the second rear blow out in two days, I decided to turn around and head home.  The first blow out was at home while my bike sat unattended.  Something wasn't right, so I decided not to chance it. 

Well, I feel like I have more riding in my legs but this extended weekend is coming to a close.  I guess its "Roller Time" until next weekend.
