Ride a bike, share your experience and love. When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

ME and MY Bike

Biking to Church

The sun was out, snow topped the local mountains and I was ready to ride. I wasn't sure what type of ride I was going to do today so I settled on a nice leisurely one to San Dimas Community Church.

Its been a couple years since we left SDCC for Saint Luke in Claremont. In this time, we have come to Christ and last year we were all baptized. It's been quite a journey, and I have learned so much about God, Jesus Christ, Faith, Community, and so so much more. More and more I feel like I'm actually "getting it".

I've been wanting to return to SDCC, and compare and contrast services. SDCC is a UCC while Saint Luke is a Lutheran Church. It was nice to see Pastor Joyce and many old friends. Oh the cycle of time, I was so happy to see young families, children and even a number of little babies.

Isaiah 49:8-16a, Mathew 6:24-34

After the ride, Meme and I rode to Euclid in Upland. It wasn't too hard but by Euclid, I was extremely hungry. We stopped off at The Hat to refuel on Chilli Cheese Fries, and a Pastrami Burger. It was all so bad, yet so good.

Mt Baldy had plenty of snow. Below is Meme taking a break while I stopped to take a few pictures.

Winter Riding (Outside of California)

For us Californians we have two seasons, Fire Season and Mud Slide Season. For the most part we are fortunate to have mild winters. Take for instance today, its beautiful with not a cloud in the sky, and an expected high of 57 degrees. In other parts of the country, like the Midwest, it can get down right cold and miserable.

This is a great video for Winter Riding. I can't imagine riding in single digit weather. The citizens are Chicago are hard core!

Operation Tall Bike

Houston we have a problem, well sort of. After finishing my Truss Bridge Bike, I wasn't sure what to do next? Fixie, did that, Vintage MTB, Done. What's next? Well after seeing this Tall Bike on YouTube, I was sold. For me building bikes is a pure joy. I love bikes and how happy I feel when my project is completed. Watching Tall Bike in Asheville, NC made me laugh, smile and think, "I could do that!" Well kinda. Tall Bike in Asheville is 12ft, I'll start with maybe 5ft high or two bikes high.

My vision for my Tall Bike would be to ride it in the LaVerne 4th of July Parade. The frame painted Red, White and Blue, me cruising around town throwing candy to all the kids enjoying the parade. Maybe I'll even wear a Red, White and Blue Tux (LOL)! Maybe, I'm just crazy enough.

So its done, Operation Tall Bike is in motion. Meme gave me two donor bikes, one GT Outpost and one generic brand Cromoly Frame (Meme calls it "Little Bitch") about the same size as the GT. Luckily the headset and seat posts are the same size.

Here are the donors. I'm not sure which will go on top but I'm leaning towards the blue GT on top, and Little Bitch below (Or should that be the other way around?).

Awe, the bikes are ready for Nick to hack, grind and weld into one beautiful Tall Bike!

3rd Saturday RAP

The 2nd ever Third Saturday Ride Around Pomona was a great ride. An eclectic band of citizens gathered at Thomas Plaza in the heart of Pomona to ride around town this cold, crisp Saturday morning. City Planner Daryl Grigsby headed our group thru Downtown Pomona's Art Colony then south towards the 71 Fwy. Along the way we visited The Holy Cross Cemetery off Lexington and to a public garden near Phillips Ranch.

The group consisted of locals like Juan from Bunny Gunner and Ashley who has an art studio just off the beaten path in DT Pomona.

Off Lexington we rode thru the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Eve's Dave Scott Centurion was sporting a 24" up front and a 700C in the rear. It was an interesting bike, she called "Terry" Style for smaller riders.

The Sacred Hear Church. This reminded me of Meme's Self Portrait.

Free coffee after the ride.

Meme and I opted for El Merendero.

Mem-icky

Last night Kevin and I went down to the Pomona Arts Colony to see Meme's Art Show. It was being held in the old Press Bulletin building in Downtown Pomona (soon be converted into a Tequila Bar). Cars and crowds converged all around the Arts Colony and a long line formed around the Fox Theater. Last Night's performer was none other than Snoop Dogg!

Meme's showing proved to be a success, and drew a decent crowd to view his work and sample Tequila. Meme's art consisted of nudes, Lucha Libre, Mickey, sculptures and etc. Meme also had work at Bunny Gunner.

Bunny Gunner Showcased a number of Meme's painting.
