Ride a bike, share your experience and love. When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

Incycle Bagel Ride

The Bagel ride never disappoints.  Good crowds and fast paces around Bonelli, San Dimas Canyon, Padua Theater and Shinn.  The Williams Brothers showed up for part of the ride and Tai is always happy to share words of encouragement to get you over the climbs.

Montrose 8 am

Ton's of cyclist converged on this weekend's 8 am Montrose ride.  I think it's safe to say we could bring back the 8:30 am group now.  In some respects it would make the ride safer.  Since the 8 am/8:30 am is combined it makes for a huge group of riders with vastly different abilities.

Glendora Mountain Road to East Fork and then some more

Frank and I decided to head to GMR for a Shack and "back".  We met up at Euro Cafe and it was a nice paced ride to the base of Glendora Mountain Road.  It was a little cold, but I knew once we started climbing we'd heat up quickly.  We kept a talking pace up to the Shack and I have to admit, I pushed the pace a little at the last decent/climb before the guard shack.  I slowly increased the pace, little by little, trying not to tip off Frank of my plan.  If he caught on, Frank would just drop down in gears and sprint past me if I didn't time it right.  He knew what I was doing and we finished to the shack at the same time.

Once at the top of Monroe, we headed down East Fork and climbed out of Hwy 39.  East Fork and Hwy 39 were uneventful and quiet.  Very little car traffic on the weekdays is nice.

At the bottom of Azusa Ave we stopped at a taco shop and had lunch.

Dominic's Wednesday Ride

Today I planned on a nice flat recovery ride.  Yesterday, I rode with the Los Lobos and they basically ate me alive. Legs burnt, tired, no power for today.  But hey, it's another day, might as well do something outside.  So Fco Iglesias invited me to climb to Crestline, NOPE! I ain't climbing today, the legs are toast. I need something flat.  Jessica G invited me to Dominic G's Wednesday ride with the promise it's flat.  I think she said something to the effect that, "It's chill, we ride from the Bagelry in LaVerne to Glendora (Meet up with Tai O) then head AWAY from the mountains into Covina and head back."  Okay, I'm down.  Heck she even got a text from Tai that the ride will be "CHILL".

Well we ended up climbing Hwy 39 to East Fork then to GMR.  The lies people tell to get you out on a ride.  It's a good thing I never fib on rides, distance, elevation or effort.
