Euro Cafe to Turnbull Canyon

More Turnbull Canyon today but just a different route.  This time we rode out to SGVT then to Beverly Blvd.  It was another great ride. I am committed to no wasted days; meaning if I can ride, hike, walk or just do something to enjoy the outside, I will.  Thankfully I have a few friends who are as committed to the great outdoors as I am and can ride during the weekdays.  Overall it was a great ride. I wanted FCO Iglesias to pace me up Turnbull but he did a horrible job and dropped me a third of the way up.  At the top we met a woman from Mexico.  She's here to help her sister with a newborn and plans to stay in California for about a year.  She is an avid cyclist and was doing repeats on Turnbull.

 Today I left the house without my helmet to meet up with Ricardo, Frank and Rafa for a ride out to Turnbull Canyon.  I had my cycling cap on in the house to keep my head warm and when I left, I felt something on my head so I assumed  it was the helmet. Fortunately the route passes by my house to Turnbull so we stopped by to get it.  Once properly geared up we made our way to Turnbull.  I like this route because we get rollers/hills, mountain climbs and a nice level time trial.

Yesterday Bicycle Friends, "Team Fontana" came out to Diamond Bar to hustle with Mike and me.  It was cold and I am definitely out of shape but never the less we all had a great time.

I was tired so Dino, Sammy and I turned off Valley to Grand.  We headed home while Stu, Mike, Liz and Bong headed up Armitos for extra miles.

Carbon and Turnbull Canyon

Yesterday Topet-glad Quiñones, Michael Young and I rode thru Carbon Cyn and Turnbull Cyn. It was a great ride, however I bonked at mile 30. I was tired from the previous days ride and did not pack any food. We were in Whittier when I realized I was in trouble and with 20 more miles to go the rest of the ride was painful.

Today Mike and I rode from Diamond Bar to Turnbull Canyon.  This is becoming a Bicycle Friends Tradition between Mike and I.

Turnbull Canyon with Michael Y.

It's been a while since Michael and I have ridden together.  Michael is one of my favorite guys to ride with, not because our skill sets are equal (He'll smoke me up, down and all around the tarmac any day) but rather our station in life is similar.  He's married with kids, employed, and always pressed for time, just like me!!!

Because of that he makes a great ride buddy.  Michael is goal oriented and one who will brave the elements with me in the early morning.  Let's get out, ride and go home!  All business, mixed with great conversations about life the universe and anything.

Thursday morning we decided to get out and ride before the Thanksgiving festivities got underway.  We decided on Diamond Bar to Whittier to Turnbull Canyon and back.  I left the Garmin at home, but this ride is about 40 miles.  We didn't push the pace and it was a nice ride through a few different cities.

Turnbull Canyon - FIXED

Sunday's fire near GMR put the kibosh on our GMR to Mt. Baldy ride.  We decided on a quick ride thru Turnbull Canyon.  Michael and I were pressed for time so we kept a good pace and were done in 2.5 hours. 

The trip took us thru Diamond Bar, La Puente, Whittier, Hacienda Heights and some other cities.

Yes we rode fixed gear.  More and more these days this is the only way I roll!
