Legendary Bike Racing, Andy Hampsten

The Hampsten name is synonymous with legendary bike racing. In 1988, a kid from North Dakota stunned the international cycling community with a gutsy ride that won him the Giro d'Italia - one of only three Grand Tours on the cycling calender including the Tour de France (a race Hampsten was highly successful in as well). Andy Hampsten is still the only American ever to win the 106 year old event. Maglia ROSA translates as “pink jersey” and is historically worn by the leader of the "Giro" – the Tour of Italy (arguably a race that is more popular with the riders than the French version.)

Taking cues from Andy's domination of the Italian Alps during his reign in pink, the film is set in a grand environment that this bike would be at home in. Going-To-The-Sun Road in Glacier National Park was perfect. With its rugged peaks, dominating weather and a road that is beautifully crafted - it couldn't be beat.

ANTI-terrorist detectives seized a massive car bomb in Dublin which was primed and ready to be detonated.

The car containing the milk churn bomb was discovered by gardai in the car park of the Finnstown Country House hotel in Lucan, Co Dublin.

Sources revealed that it contained 50lb of explosives made from fertiliser, and was armed and ready for use with a timer attached.

While the intended target remained unclear, the bomb was seized just hours before the culmination of the high profile Giro d'Italia.

Wow, when I read this I was surprised.  Danilo, really?  Come on, this is the umpteenth time and did you think you could beat the system.  Limits of detection have gotten so much better.  I think Danilo is done.  Such a shame.

PONTE DI LEGNO, Italy, May 24, 2013 (AFP) - Italian cyclist Danilo Di Luca, currently competing at the 96th Giro d'Italia, has been "provisionally suspended" by the UCI after testing positive for EPO in an out-of-competition test before the race.
Di Luca, who has already served a ban for failing a doping test at the Giro and has been embroiled in other doping affairs, tested positive for the banned blood booster at the end of April. He risks a heavy sanction if found guilty. Continue Reading ...
