Ride a bike, share your experience and love. When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

Turnbull Canyon with Team Velocity

Up early and off to Hero's Parking Lot in Fullerton. By 7:40 am we were off heading North West to Turnbull Canyon. This is my second time riding with the group. Our pace was steady, until we started heading up Colima. The climb wasn't all that bad but the group pulled away from me just before the apex. Out of site, I missed a left turn and headed off track for about a mile. Lost again! This time with Evan from Anaheim Hills. We back tracked and re-grouped with two Advanced riders. One of the two, Dave, sprinted up Turnbull Canyon like it wasn't a climb at all.

Made it to the top of Turnbull Canyon! This climb wasn't bad, similar to GMR just much shorter and the descent was fast but cautious. At the bottom of Turnbul Canyon, Evan and I met up with the Advance Riders main pack and rode with them back to home base.

Somethings I need to work on:

Don't let group out of my site!!!!!

If dropped, pull out your map ASAP. When I decided I was dropped, I missed a turn while I fumbled with pulling out my directions!

Drink water often, even if the weather is cool.

Push through the pain, this means re-group spot is coming up.

Print out the instructions for the ride route and roll it around the handle bars. tape it on.

At least you get lost with a buddy each time.

GMR is such a simple route. You go up or you go down. Preferably on the road.

July 4th weekend ... the gate will most likely be closed!
