Ride a bike, share your experience and love. When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

Pomona - Chantry Flats - Rose Bowl and Back

69.1 miles and all I got as a memento was epic bird shit on my shoulder and knee.

Yeah it was gross.  I thought a tree nut or something hit me from above.  Then I looked at my leg and saw the splatter damage on the knee.  It was gross.  Then I felt the warm, wet nastiness on the left shoulder.  It was gross.

Mike and Gary were laughing, and kept saying, "AWESOME!"  It wasn't awesome, it wasn't funny.  I squirted off my knee and took off my jersey to clean it.  If was ALL gross.
